AB 1908: Memorial districts.

  • Session Year: 2017-2018
  • House: Assembly
Version:

Existing law provides for the formation of veterans memorial districts and provides for their powers and functions in constructing, acquiring, and operating halls, buildings, meeting places, and other facilities for the use of veterans and veterans organizations and by persons and organizations other than veterans when their use does not interfere with the use of the facilities by veterans. Existing law additionally authorizes veterans memorial districts to provide funding to providers of supportive services that improve the quality of life for veterans and their families. Existing law requires the secretary of every memorial district to annually prepare a financial report containing specified information from the preceding year, including, among other things, disbursements of any kind and the purposes thereof. Existing law requires local agencies and special districts to report specified information on an annual basis to certain entities, including to the county auditor.

This bill would require the annual financial report to include additional information about funding distributed to providers of supportive services. The bill would authorize the secretary to exclude information that is already included in those other annual reports from the annual financial report, as specified.
