Version:

Existing law, until January 1, 2023, prohibited loitering in a public place with the intent to commit prostitution, as defined, and made that crime a misdemeanor.

This bill would make it a misdemeanor to loiter in a public place within 1,000 feet of a school, park, playground, amusement park, or state highway with the intent to commit prostitution, as defined, and make other conforming changes. By creating a new crime, this bill would impose a state-mandated local program.

The California Constitution requires the state to reimburse local agencies and school districts for certain costs mandated by the state. Statutory provisions establish procedures for making that reimbursement.

This bill would provide that no reimbursement is required by this act for a specified reason.
