Existing law, the State Bar Act, provides for the licensure and regulation of attorneys by the State Bar of California, a public corporation. The act prohibits an attorney from encouraging either the commencement or the continuance of an action or proceeding from any corrupt motive of passion or interest.
This bill would additionally prohibit an attorney from encouraging either the commencement or the continuance of an action or proceeding from any discriminatory motive of passion or interest.
