WHEREAS, California recognizes Mexico as an esteemed and indispensable partner, with whom we share a deep history of cultural, economic, and social relations spanning more than 200 years, forming the foundation of mutual prosperity community; and

WHEREAS, The partnership between California and Mexico flourishes through daily commercial, governmental, and educational exchanges that enrich both societies; and

WHEREAS, The sustainability and resilience of the California-Mexico border is essential to supporting the families, workforce, and economic elements that unite and strengthen our shared border; and

WHEREAS, California proudly has over 10,000,000 immigrant residents, with Latino individuals and families making up nearly one-half of that population, whose invaluable contributions strengthen our communities, drive our economy, and are integral to the cultural and social fabric of the State of California; and

WHEREAS, California reaffirms its commitment to fostering and enhancing relations with Mexico, which serves as a beacon of friendship, cooperation, connection, and opportunity regardless of federal actions; and

WHEREAS, Mexico stands as a partner with California in trade, tourism, cultural exchange, and many other areas, with our economic partnership supporting tens of thousands of California jobs and driving prosperity on both sides of the border; and

WHEREAS, The County of Kern is exceptionally positioned to further cultivate and strengthen the connection and enduring friendship between California and Mexico with its approximately 56.6 percent Latino residents; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, That California is committed to continue strengthening its longstanding binational and cross-border relationship with Mexico; and be it further

Resolved, That California stands proudly with its Latino families, workers, and community leaders, and encourages that the services provided by a Mexican Consulate will safeguard their interests and uplift their livelihoods; and be it further

Resolved by the Assembly of the State of California, the Senate thereof concurring, That the Legislature supports the establishment of a Mexican Consulate in the County of Kern, which will further strengthen our binational relationship and empower our immigrant communities, as a testament to the enduring partnership between California and Mexico; and be it further

Resolved, That the Chief Clerk of the Assembly transmit copies of this resolution to the author for appropriate distribution.
