Legislator
Contingent of the Joint Rules Committee. Well, technically I have to say we're going to begin in 10 seconds, so pay attention. In 10 seconds we'll get going here. Okay. To keep Senator Jones from continuing to sing, I'm going to call this formally to order. The Senate contingent on the joint Rules Committee will come to order. I'll explain the agenda and what we're doing in a moment, but let's begin by establishing a quorum. Please call the roll.

We have a quorum. Now. The Senate contingent of joint rules, we are allowed to meet separately as the Senate Members of Joint Rules. The joint rules of each house may meet separately and consider any action that is required to be taken by the Joint Committee so that if a majority of the Members of each House at the separate meetings vote in favor of an action, it'll be considered approved by the Joint Rules Committee.

The purpose of today's meeting is to approve the chair of the Joint Rules Committee and the Chief Administrative Officer pursuant to Joint Rule 40. The Rules Committee has already approved my appointment as Vice Chair at the beginning of the two year session.

Legislator
So with that understanding of why we're meeting today, in line with the rules, we have two items. The first item is the selection of Assemblymember Blanca Pacheco as chair of the Joint Committee on Rules. And the second is the appointment of Leo Lopez as the chief administrative officer of the Joint Committee on Rules.

Legislator
And I think we can take these in one motion. Is that okay? Motion by Senator Grove. Any discussion to the motion then please call the roll. The motion is on items 1 and 2 together.

We have 11 votes. That motion passes. That completes our business. We have no need to hold the roll open. For those of you that are here for the 1:30 Rules Committee, please give us a moment as the Joint Committee Members depart and we get ready for the Rules Committee.

So that will mean that the Senate contingent on the Joint Rules Committee stands adjourned. Thanks everybody for attending this weighty meeting.
