Bio
Anamarie Avila Farias, 52, is a former vice mayor of Martinez and a Contra Costa County Board of Education trustee who was on the board of directors of the California Housing Finance Agency. She worked in leadership roles at housing and community development agencies in San Francisco, Concord and Oakland. She gained national notoriety – and calls from Republicans to step down from the school board – after she wrote that Americans should boycott the Fourth of July (as she had done since the Trump years) when the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. She has a master’s degree in information systems management from the University of San Francisco. She’s married with two children.
