Bio

Tom Umberg, 70, is a lawyer, retired U.S. Army Colonel and one-time paratrooper, former federal prosecutor and deputy drug czar for former President Bill Clinton. His political career dates to the 1990s, when he first ran for state office. He is a former member of the Assembly and ran unsuccessfully for California Attorney General, Insurance Commissioner and Orange County supervisor. He has a bachelor’s from UCLA and a law degree from UCSF. Umberg is married to retired Brigadier General Robin Umberg. They have three children.
