  • Chris Holden

    Person

Good morning, and welcome to the May 18 Assembly Appropriation suspense hearing on Assembly bills. First, I'd like to thank Assemblymember Ortega for filling in for Assemblymember Wilson on the committee today. Before we start with the 755 bills on the suspense file, I'd like to thank the committee staff, Republican staff, for their hard work and their support. It is much appreciated. I could not have asked for a more dedicated group of professionals.

  • Chris Holden

    Person

I would also like to thank the staff of the Speaker's office, the Assembly Sergeant's office, the information technology personnel, and the many others who've helped ensure the democratic process continues as we transition to a more normal environment. Thank all of you. I'd also like to thank my vice chair for her cooperation and support. Thank you. Ms. Dahle, you've done and continue to be not just a great vice chair, but a great friend. Thank you.

  • Chris Holden

    Person

I'd also like to hand it to my colleagues for their hard work on the bills that are before the committee today. Over the past several months, the committee has moved the 755 bills under consideration to the suspense file. It is now time to dispense with them. I'd also like to announce that the hearing agenda is organized alphabetically by author with the 12 bills authored by the Assembly Policy Committees listed at the end of the agenda.

  • Chris Holden

    Person

An electronic copy of the agenda is available online at the Assembly Appropriation Committee website, which is located at apro.assembly.ca.gov. There are also a limited number of hard copies of the agenda in the hearing room. Later this afternoon, following today's hearing, the committee will post the results of the suspense file hearing on the same website. Before we begin, I'd like to pause and give my vice chair an opportunity to say a few words if she would like to do so.

  • Megan Dahle

    Legislator

Thank you, Mr. Chair. I've been honored to be your vice chair through this process. And again, thank you to all the committee staff on both the Republicans and the Democrats. And this is truly a democratic process here, and I'm honored to represent my constituents and the State of California. So thank you so much.
