Assembly Standing Committee on Human Services
- Alex Lee
Legislator
Good afternoon. I call this hearing of the Assembly Committee on Human Services to order. I would like to welcome everyone to our first Committee hearing of the year. Officially, the legislation that comes before this Committee impacts California's most vulnerable populations. I am honored to lead these discussions in an effort to ensure social services are accessible to those who need it. As chair, I remain committed to making California a more inclusive place for everyone today, once we have established quorum, we have two bills on the agenda.

One Bill is on consent. Please note that we limit testimony to two witnesses in support and two witnesses in opposition. Each witness has two minutes to testify. All additional witnesses will be limited to stating their name, organization, and, if they represent one, their position on the Bill. I also want to note that we are accepting written testimony through the positions letter portal on the Committee's website. Thank you.

Noticing we do not yet have a quorum, we will begin business as a Subcommitee or we do have quorum. zero, wow. We do have quorum. Madam Secretary, would you please read the roll for quorum?
- Alex Lee
Legislator
Thank you, Madam Secretary. So we shall start with the first Bill. First file item number one. AB 772. Jackson Child daycare facilities. Dr. Jackson, when you're ready, you may begin.
- Corey Jackson
Legislator
Thank you very much, Mr. Chair. I'm presenting AB 772, which seeks to break down a barrier for working families to have access to childcare. Current law already exempts non contract child daycare centers from verifying and maintaining records of children's immunizations and tuberculosis testing. To simplify access to care for working families, AB 772 seeks to add physicians assessments to the list of exemptions for noncontract child daycare centers. The Bill would also require parental acknowledgment forms to include notice of the exemption from physicians assessments alongside immunizations and tuberculosis testing.

This is just a simple Bill to clarify the law so that we can make sure that we have as much access to our care facilities as possible. With that, I respectfully ask for an aye vote.
- Alex Lee

Thank you. Assemblymember Jackson and I understand you have no witnesses in support.
- Alex Lee
