Bio

Caroline Menjivar, 36, spent seven years in the U.S. Marines, worked as an emergency medical technician, domestic violence counselor and staffer for former Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. After her election to the Senate in 2022, Menjivar has advocated for legislation that would provide financial assistance to women who can’t afford menstrual products. She’s also sought to expand access to condoms and HPV vaccines for teens. Gov. Newsom vetoed her bill, citing costs. She has a bachelor’s degree from Cal State Northridge and a master’s from UCLA. She has a wife and two dogs.
