Bio

Eloise Gómez Reyes, 69, moved to the Senate from the Assembly, where she was the Assembly Majority Leader; she was the first Latina to hold that position. Gómez Reyes has a bachelors from USC and a law degree from Loyola Law School. The daughter of farmworkers opened her own law practice. In the Assembly, she’s supported inmate firefighters joining fire departments when released from prison and she’s led efforts to reform the Legislature’s sex harassment policies. She’s married and has one son and a Doberman named Mida.
