Bio

Rick Chavez Zbur, 69, is a longtime advocate for the LGBTQ community. Before being elected to the Assembly, he was executive director of Equality California, a civil rights organization for LGBTQ people. Zbur is a graduate of Yale College and Harvard Law School. He is an attorney and a former board member and president of the then-named California League of Conservation Voters. Zbur authored The Safe and Supportive Schools Act, which provides LGBTQ cultural competency training for teachers.
