  • Latest Version Date: 2022-02-16
Version:

Existing law establishes the Student Aid Commission as the primary state agency for the administration of state-authorized student financial aid programs available to students attending all segments of postsecondary education.

This bill would, upon appropriation by the Legislature, establish the Golden State Apprenticeship and Vocational Training Emergency Assistance Grant Program under the administration of the commission to provide one-time grants to California residents in financial need, as determined by the commission, who meet certain requirements for purposes of paying educational-related expenses associated with the eligible recipients state-approved apprenticeship or vocational program of participation. The bill would establish the Golden State Apprenticeship Grant Fund as the initial depository of all moneys appropriated, donated, or otherwise received for the program, and, upon appropriation by the Legislature, would require the commission to distribute moneys in the fund to eligible recipients, as provided.
