Marie Alvarado-Gil
- Senate: 2022-present
Bio
Marie Alvarado-Gil, 52, suddenly switched her party affiliation from Democrat to Republican in August 2024, saying she was frustrated with the majority party’s crime policies. She was first elected to represent her Republican leaning district in 2022. She has a master’s in public administration from the University of San Francisco, which she says she earned as a single parent after having three children. Prior to her time in the Senate, she worked for and served on the board of trustees of charter schools for several years. Alvarado-Gil and her husband have a blended family of six children and pet pugs.
