Bio

Mark Gonzalez, 42, was the district director for outgoing Assemblymember Miguel Santiago, whose seat he won. He previously worked as a staff member for former Assembly Speaker John Pérez. Gonzalez is also the former Chair of the LA County Democratic Party and is a caregiver to his mother, who suffered a stroke two years ago. He said serving in that role motivated him to run for office and tackle issues such as housing and healthcare affordability. He joins the Legislature’s small but steadily growing renter’s caucus.
