Existing law requires the clerk of a court in which a person was convicted of a violation of the Vehicle Code or other specified provisions, to prepare and forward an abstract of the record of conviction to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), as specified. Existing law authorizes the Judicial Council to perform audits, reviews, and investigations of superior court operations and records, as specified.
This bill would require the Judicial Council, when performing an audit of superior court records, to include a review of compliance with these deadlines for transmitting records to the DMV when a person is convicted of a violation relating to the safe operation of a vehicle.
