Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Good morning, members. I rise today to adjourn in the memory of Fairfield mayor Harry Price. He passed away on December 16, 2022 at the age of 85. Mayor Price was born in lockhaven, Pennsylvania, and moved to Fairfield, California, with his family in 1965. He taught English at Fairfield's band in high school from 1965 to 1998. He won the solano county teacher of the year in 1986. He was a man of faith and regularly taught Sunday school at his place of worship. In the late 1980s, mayor Price took an interest in Fairfield political scene, serving on city commissions. He was appointed to the Fairfield community services commission in 1988, where he served until he was appointed to the Fairfield planning commission in 1992. He served on the planning commission for five years until his election to the Fairfield city council in 1997. Two years later, mayor Price was appointed vice mayor. He was first elected to the mayor of the city of Fairfield in 2005. He was reelected in 2009, 2014, and 2018. During his tenure at the city, his major accomplishments included advocating for programs to keep our community safe, attracting jobs to strengthen the local economy, and improving roads and streets. Mayor Price also helped develop a safe route to school program and worked to improve public transportation for our seniors. Travis air force base was close to Harry's heart, and he championed their cause unfailingly. He believed Fairfield had a bright future, and his unwavering service exemplified words and action and brought our community together. He passed just a few days shy of passing the gavel to the new mayor. He died doing exactly what he loved serving he will be forever. Fairfield statement statesman I remember mayor Price as a new legislator, actually, before I knew mayor. But as before I got into political service, I served giving food to people who were hungry in our community. And I met him that way, and he was such a gentle soul. And when I came to him saying I was going to run for office, he was really excited about it. And he was like, you're going to go far. One day you'll be in the legislature, one year you'll be in congress. And I was like, no, I'm good. Just going to be on council. So he was right. He was truly loved by his community. He leaves a tremendous legacy of service above self and will be deeply missed by many family and friends. People love Terry. I love Terry. City staff members and colleagues considered him a tremendous leader, a mentor, and a friend. His presence will be truly missed, and we look forward to celebrating his life with his family this coming Saturday. Thank you.

Members, I just wanted to say how much that we all loved Harry Price. He was one of the nicest gentlemen you could ever meet. He was always services number one. I met him at Travis Air Force Base. He had a leadership program that I belonged to. And we flew down to Southern California. He always would see me because remember our trip to La. When we flew down to Southern California. He was nothing but a gentleman. The sweetest man in the world. And I will say is that the community will miss Harry Price. He was a legend. And I thank you very much, assembly member, for bringing this forward today.
