Comments
According to the author:
California has a uniquely diverse climate and geography, with deserts, mountain ranges, forests, coastlines, and rivers and lakes, which are home to about 6,500 species, subspecies, and varieties of plants and has engendered prominent environmentalists, such as John Muir, who founded the Sierra Club and led successful efforts to establish numerous national parks in California.
Currently, California has 280 State Park units and 28 national parks, which host 36 National Natural Landmarks, two World Heritage Sites and 92 threatened and endangered species. In total there are 118 threatened or endangered animal species in California.
By creating California Wildlife Day, SCR 23 will help to educate the public about the importance of protecting and nurturing the state’s wildlife, as well as to increase the public’s awareness and support for the protection, restoration and care of our natural resources.
